July 21st, 2008 -  …because it’s, like, totally, “today”

Hey all, it’s midnight on Sunday which means it’s technically Monday and that means it’s a release day! This time around it’s the debut single from My Name is Kino (the band that is technically my boss! so you’d better download it!) “It’ll Never Be Yesterday” with three additional b-side tracks.

I was pretty floored when Aj sent me the .zip of it. Sweeping strings, organ, piano, it would seem My Name is Kino isn’t just a dusted off Aj Draper & the Force of Nature afterall! Anyway, haha, this isn’t enough of a news post and far too much of a blog so let me get all businessly.

T he single is the lead-off from the upcoming (and now officially titled) MNiK debut album Take Care of Yourself which Aj, Adam Maly, and Eric Gifford are locked in a mid-western apartment working like mad on and, if I know them, probably pulling anyone off the streets who can play a kazoo to come help.

So we hope you enjoy!

July 3rd, 2008 - Happy Independent(record)s Day!
Happy (almost) 4th of July!

…and what better way to spend your weekend of celebrating a “do it our own way or die tryin’” attitude than by spinnin’ a brand new release from Rainsoaked Records! We’re very veeery excited to present the beautiful new folksy LP from our good friend Sam Pickering Pick A Twitch Upon The Thread. Nine new tracks of some of the most breathtaking songwriting you'll find, and, as always, free as free can be.

So download, queue it up, pop open a beer and relax. We hope your holiday is as good as ours will be.

Also don’t forget, later this month we have the new (and final) LP from Radio Pirate DJ, This is Life, This is Living as well as a (semi)new 3-song single from My Name Is Kino. A remastered version of "It'll Never Be Yesterday" off Aj Draper & Companie's upcoming album Take Care of Yourself, which is slated for release this fall.

Cheers! and happy independence!

June 12th, 2008 - Goodbye! And Thanks For Killing Rock & Roll!
If this is goodbye, good?

Hey, all. If you’re from around eastern Michigan there’s a solid chance you’re familiar with a little pop-punk outfit called Radio Pirate DJ. As you may not have heard, though, the guys found it best to disband after five years goin’ strong. So we here at Rainsoaked Records have dedicated June as Radio Pirate DJ month, in loving memory. And while Michigan’s music scene may have taken a serious blow, your album collection is about to be on the upswing. RPDJ Singer/Guitarist (and dear personal friend of mine) Josh LaFave felt that the best way to celebrate the life and times of the band was to say to hell with unloading CDs and donated the bands entire catalog to Rainsoaked Records (on a personal note: boosh! We’d only been courting those guys for three years!)
Anyway the first two records are up and running for free download which is the bands low-rent but high-hoped debut Liar and the Rainsoaked expanded edition of their newest EP Hollywood Endings. We’ve also got the bands brand new (and final) full-length This Is Life, This Is Living coming in July, so keep an eye out for that. It’ll be the first time it’s been available free anywhere since it’s release and Rainsoakedrecords.com will be the only place to get it without the price-tag.

If that wasn’t enough, [calm down, Aj. …take a breath.] July also brings the brand new full length album from our friend Pickering Pick!! Now normally I wouldn’t get all gushy over something I’m trying to promote like a professional, but I just got done listening to it and it’s freaking amazing. Sam’s music is a reason the world ain't all that bad a place to be, and he doesn’t want a penny for it. But hey, that’s what we’re all about here.

So get downloading! It’s free. It’s legal. We’re not hittin’ you with spyware or any nonsense, and we don’t want your e-mail address or credit card number. The music, like always, was made for you to enjoy.

Cheers!
